MailChimp today announced the introduction of its Forever Free pricing plan for its popular email marketing services. Now anyone can join the more than 125,000 MailChimp subscribers with full application access and best-in-class email delivery. The new plan allows subscribers to send up to 500 emails per campaign and 3,000 emails per month at no cost. Other providers charge $10 to $15 per month for a similar service. The plan is not a trial and never expires. For the first time the full power of email marketing is available to everyone, anywhere in the world, at no charge.
“We’ve always seen email first as a publishing tool and second as a marketing tool,” said Ben Chestnut, Co-Founder of MailChimp. “We’re aiming to empower smaller groups like artists, musicians, nonprofits, small businesses and hand-crafters to communicate effectively at no cost. That’s why we’re calling this Power to the People. We want to give everyone all the tools they need to send professional, permission-based email campaigns.”
Email is the best way for groups to stay in touch. Many organizations currently use Microsoft’s Outlook to send out regular email updates and to manage subscriber lists. While Outlook is well suited for personal emails, it was not designed for sending email campaigns. A further complication is that many internet service providers limit the number of emails an individual email account can send per day. MailChimp provides all the tools needed to manage the email campaign process including list building, designing HTML emails, sending, and tracking campaign performance.
“The new plan is perfect for smaller organizations like us, who don’t have a big marketing budget and are still building up their list, but want to start communicating now.” - Julia Cordero (a.k.a. Killy Wabbit), Head of Marketing, Atlanta Rollergirls.
MailChimp supports more than 3 million subscribers worldwide, sending 3 billion emails per month.
