MailChimp today announced the launch of a new plugin, MailChimp-STS, that links WordPress sites with MailChimp’s transactional email solution. WordPress users can now send emails from WordPress with confidence, accessing Amazon’s Simple Email Solution (SES), with the added benefit of opens and clicks tracking provided by MailChimp. The plugin also manages emails generated by other WordPress plugins, providing a single path to ensure inbox delivery for WordPress users.
MailChimp-STS also includes a report showing how many emails have been sent per day from the WordPress site.
MailChimp’s array of WordPress add-ons includes plugins for the easy management of email list signups, RSS-to-email, along with extensive Google Analytics integration. The MailChimp-STS plugin was developed for MailChimp by NewClarity and can be downloaded here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mailchimp-sts.
To complete the setup process, a WordPress user needs to register with the Amazon SES email service at http://aws.amazon.com/ses. Once the user’s SES account is in production, the WordPress user can turn on the STS feature in the integrations page of the MailChimp application. Finally the owner will copy his or her MailChimp API key into the MailChimp-STS settings section of their WordPress admin console to complete the process.
Developers interested in making use of the MailChimp STS API can review the documentation here: http://apidocs.mailchimp.com/sts/1.0.
The MailChimp integration fund can be used to support STS API integration on other platforms. http://mailchimp.com/about/integration-fund.
