ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Mandrill, the transactional email service from the makers of MailChimp email marketing, has changed its pricing to a simple pay-as-you-go model. No more monthly plans. No more figuring out whether you want to keep a monthly plan even if you’re sending less mail. Just consistent features for all users, with predictable pricing and volume discounts built-in.
“Email is the Internet equivalent of the postal service and we think it should be priced like it: cheap and ubiquitous,” says Mandrill product lead Chad Morris. “We’ve reduced some costs internally that we’re now passing on to our customers with a pricing model that more accurately reflects how they’re using Mandrill.”
All users get 12,000 free messages per month. Prices for additional messages start at $0.20/thousand for the first 1M, $0.15/thousand for the next 5M and $0.10/thousand above 6M. Existing paid accounts will be given a partial credit for their most recent monthly fee.
Additionally, a new “Account Details and Balances” page will help users track their monthly sends and balances, and allow them to adjust the thresholds for automatic billing. Paid accounts will continue to have the option of choosing dedicated IP addresses for $29.95 per month.
Mandrill is a new way for apps to send transactional email. Built on the same technology that runs MailChimp, Mandrill brings the power of one-to-many messaging and applies it to one-to-one, transactional email. Mandrill allows you to send, receive and track transactional email such as password resets, order confirmations and welcome messages, giving you control over and insight into this valuable data about your customers.
MailChimp supports more than 3 million subscribers worldwide, sending 5 billion messages per month. MailChimp is designed for the do-it-yourself power user – someone looking for all of the power of an enterprise application, but built for anyone to use. MailChimp integrates with many third party applications including Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite, Pinterest, Instagram, SurveyMonkey, Eventbrite, Etsy, Salesforce, Wordpress, Magento, Joomla, Drupal and Google Analytics. And best of all, prices start at free.
