Schecter Guitars Takes MailChimp on Tour

When Schecter Guitars became the official sponsor of the Uproar Festival, a lengthy U.S. trek featuring household hard-rock names like Avenged Sevenfold, Three Days Grace and Seether, they knew it would be a great opportunity to reach some new fans. “We wanted to bring the Schecter Experience to all 32 dates of the tour,” Schecter Vice President Marc LaCorte says. “We also knew gathering user data would be key on the road, but were unsure how we were going to do it. It had to be simple and easy, not only for our employees on site, but also to encourage people to interact with us.”

Schecter came across Chimpadeedoo on the MailChimp site, and LaCorte knew they’d found the solution. “As soon as I saw it, all my worries were calmed,” he says. “I knew we had to have the Schecter brand vibe and attitude when people walked up to the iPad, which Chimpadeedoo easily allows. We created a custom template in minutes that worked perfectly, looked amazing and was foolproof to use.”

LaCorte’s crew visited 30 states on the tour, opting in more than 22,000 people to the Schecter Guitars mailing list, all of whom were entered into weekly guitar giveaways. They created a separate list for the tour, picked the winners when the trip was finished, then merged those email addresses into their main list automatically by syncing the iPad with their MailChimp account when they were back home. Not bad for a month’s work.
