DODOcase’s Social Storytelling
San Francisco’s DODOcase strives to preserve the art of book binding through handmade cases for iPads, Kindles and Blackberry Tablets. They believe in community, from the local artisans who craft each unique case, to the customers they reach through their MailChimp newsletters. DODOcase president and co‑founder Craig Dalton explains how his company uses MailChimp‑s social features.
- How has MailChimp’s auto‑tweet feature impacted DODOcase’s newsletters?
-
Using the auto‑tweet function was a real no‑brainer for us. We are always looking for ways to integrate our communication strategies across the various social‑media mechanisms. With auto‑tweet, I can make sure that those customers who prefer to follow us at
@DODOsays
get the same information that our email subscribers are privy to.
- What other social features enhance the DODOcase experience?
-
In addition to auto‑tweet, we use the Facebook Like button and plan on using Google+. At DODOcase, we consider ourselves to be storytellers, and we need to make sure that our customers are able to share these stories via whatever channels make sense to them.
- It sounds like social sharing is pretty essential to DODOcase’s business model.
-
The DODOcase community has been critically important to our success as a small business. Our thought was that if we focused on making a great product and telling our interesting story, the community would find a way to share it via Facebook and Twitter. This proved to be true beyond our expectations, as we quickly developed an amazing dialogue with that community. These channels have been instrumental in the world learning about DODOcase.
