The Mailchimp internship program started in 2013. In the past 7 years, we’ve had the privilege of bringing in some of the brightest, most talented college students from around the country to spend time with our teams. Our 12 week intern program was designed so that interns can grow their skill set, thrive in the Mailchimp community, and do meaningful work. They also have a lot of fun along the way! All currently enrolled students are eligible to apply for the internship program.  

Start Date: May 18th or June 8th

Product marketing is the core marketing discipline responsible for bringing our product to market. This type of marketing does not end at pre-launch or launch, but rather embraces an ongoing course of continuously messaging, promoting, and developing the product to meet customer needs at all stages of the product life cycle - sunrise to sunset. Our product marketing team is organized into three main competencies:

  • Platform features 
  • Customer segment marketing
  • Merchandising and commercialization

Our ideal candidate is early in their marketing career and is looking to challenge themselves by working in a heavily cross-functional, fast-paced environment. We’re looking for a highly organized and creative go-getter with excellent verbal and written communication skills who’s able to juggle a number of tasks at once. They must also have a solid working knowledge of Mailchimp’s products. This role will help establish foundational marketing practices at Mailchimp, with plenty of opportunities to learn, grow and sharpen their marketing toolkit.  

The Product Marketing team will hire several interns for Summer 2020. Listed below are some of the responsibilities based on different areas of specializations.   

What you’ll do: 

For New Product Analytics: 

  • Work collaboratively across teams throughout the company to conduct analysis and create new frameworks to analyze existing and upcoming marketing efforts
  • Evaluate marketing content performance and deliver recommendations on how to focus our efforts moving forward in marketing efforts for designated products
  • Create and use a replicable marketing analytics framework to visualize results
  • Identify trends, cull insights, and derive implications 

For E-commerce:

  • Work collaboratively across teams throughout the company to assist in delivering business results to acquire, grow and retain customers within the e-commerce segment 
  • Track and monitor competitor trends and help with identification of gaps and opportunities 
  • Develop recommendations for go to market messaging ensuring consistent brand tone across digital paid channels 
  • Assist with the creation and presentation of e-commerce segment level performance, including recommendations for how to focus our efforts to drive sales growth

For Messaging and Marketing Strategy: 

  • Work collaboratively across teams throughout the company to conduct analysis and create new frameworks to analyze existing and upcoming marketing efforts
  • Create narratives and storylines to sell Mailchimp’s Marketing Platform to various segments and audiences
  • Propose new ideas for upper-funnel content to build awareness and relevance for Mailchimp among small businesses
  • Prepare messaging recommendations for how to differentiate Mailchimp against our top-tier competitors

For Merchandising:

  • Work collaboratively across teams throughout the company to conduct analysis and create new frameworks to analyze existing and upcoming marketing efforts
  • Create and use a replicable marketing analytics framework to visualize results
  • Identify trends, cull insights, and derive implications of channel performance across different criteria (i.e. list size, account status, geography, mailing type, etc.)
  • Assist with the creation and presentation of channel and content performance, including recommendations for how to focus our efforts moving forward in marketing efforts for designated products
