Associate Video Editor/Motion Designer

Atlanta, Brooklyn, or Oakland

Mailchimp is a leading marketing platform for small business. We empower millions of customers around the world to build their brands and grow their companies with a suite of marketing automation, multichannel campaign, CRM, and analytics tools.

We’re also a very unique and imaginative brand that isn’t afraid of highly expressive, experimental design, advertising and content in service of our mission and our customers. At the spiritual heart of this work is the Brand & Marketing Design team. We drive Mailchimp’s bold creative vision and uphold and evolve our visual identity across channels. Our team makes an exciting range of non-traditional work that benefits and inspires our employees and customers alike. We humbly accept the label of being Mailchimp’s secret sauce.

We are looking for an Associate Editor/Motion Designer to join us - someone who is the best and brightest of engaging content, someone who is eager to commit to our highly creative and gutsy brand, to push the barriers of how Mailchimp appears within our product, website, social and out in the wild. You have a passion for storytelling through concepting, creating and editing video and motion content. An ideal candidate is someone who’s an excellent communicator and collaborator, who can power through projects independently but thrive just as much in a team setting. As an in-house team, we want to make award-winning, groundbreaking work and a strong partner will help us get there together. We value creative, self-driven individuals who care about the work they produce and the people they work with—and we love a good sense of humor, too.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Brand Studio’s video, motion design and photography disciplines to create engaging and inspiring content.
  • The execution and on-time delivery of high quality video editing and motion design (including but not limited to: product UI, web banners, packaging elements for video such as title cards, transitions, lower thirds, end cards, etc., custom animations varying in length for our site, social channels and special projects)
  • Produce and edit social content, videos, gifs and other post-related needs
  • Assist on photo and video shoots, providing insight and support to the studio team
  • Interpret brand strategy framework into creative solutions
  • Partner with outside agencies and freelancers to creatively guide and support the work
  • Stay up-to-date with all new technological advances and current trends

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • 2+ years professional videography editing experience as well as animation & motion graphics design
  • Strong portfolio of work representing short form content and inspiring visual storytelling through editing techniques and creative motion design skills
  • Understanding of animation and motion graphics principles and styles
  • Proficiency in AfterEffects, Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere Pro
  • Interest and willingness to learn Animate, Procreate (2D/cel animation), Cinema 4D and Lottie
  • Photography and illustration skills also a plus
  • Familiarity with color grade and use of LUTs
  • Experience with lighting and sound and are able to guide others in this area
  • Solid concepting, storyboarding and scripting capabilities
  • Keen eye for details and able to identify quality issues in audio and video
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently, as well as support and collaborate with others on larger projects
  • Capacity to be diplomatic and flexible and to provide thoughtful solutions to design challenges who can roll with the punches and laugh along the way

At Mailchimp, we understand that experience comes in many forms. We don’t just accept differences, we celebrate them, support them, and hire peeps from a wide variety of backgrounds because it makes our company stronger. We’re dedicated to adding new perspectives to the team - so if your experience aligns with what we’re looking for (even if you don’t check every single box), please consider applying!
