Center for Civic Innovation
The Center for Civic Innovation opened in 2014 as an incubator for new approaches to addressing Atlanta’s systemic challenges around inequality. Within 2 years they were ready to invest in a new generation of local leaders with ideas that improve social outcomes for their community.

But first, they needed someone to invest in them.
They asked Mailchimp to fund a pilot program called the Civic Innovation Fellowship. A small group of local leaders would have the time, space, training, and mentorship to hone and validate their solutions to community problems.

We said yes, and soon after that, other funders followed. Since 2016 the Center for Civic Innovation has invested $2 million and thousands of hours of coaching into nearly 100 grassroots leaders and movement builders in Atlanta.

More than 75% of their investments have empowered women-led efforts and 70% of their investments have been in Black-led organizations.
