ATLANTA, Feb. 5, 2024 - Today, Intuit Mailchimp announces the inaugural Give Where You Live Day in Atlanta. This day of service, done in partnership with the Atlanta Hawks, is dedicated to creating programming that not only educates but also puts Mailchimp’s grantmaking powers to work, supporting some amazing work being done by local organizations. Employees from Mailchimp and the Hawks completed projects at local organizations before ending the night at the Hawks game.
After visiting, listening, and volunteering at local organizations like We Love Buford Highway, Trees Atlanta, and Moving in the Spirit, participants end the day at the Hawks vs. Clippers game on February 5. Just before tip-off, Mailchimp awarded the Latino Community Fund, We Love Buford Highway, and Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs $10,000 each to empower their critical work locally.
These grants are unrestricted, allowing them to use the funds to support their valuable community work in any way they choose.
Participants kicked of the day with breakfast at the newly opened Intuit Atlanta office (home to Mailchimp), before boarding a bus lovingly wrapped in the Give Where You Live branding to embark on a jam-packed day of giving back.
To commemorate the occasion, participants were also equipped with customer-printed MARTA cards before boarding the train at the Candler-Edgewood station, just near Moving in the Spirit, only a 9-minute ride from State Farm Arena.
So, What’s Give Where You Live?
Give Where You Live is a movement launched by Mailchimp and Kin in 2022 that seeks to shine a light on small, local nonprofits (affectionately referred to as small world changers) who know their communities the best—so they get more love, help, and donations.
After all, no one understands a community's needs, and how to address them, better than those who live and work there.
In the first year, Mailchimp partnered with National Football League (NFL) players across the country and Giving Tuesday to support the critical work of local organizations in six key U.S. markets: Atlanta, Buffalo, Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. This helped participating nonprofits see a 28% rise in revenue!
Mailchimp believes that loving your neighborhood means giving back to it. Since 2013, Mailchimp’s Corporate Citizenship program has invested more than $15 million in 220+ organizations, and recently pledged $1 million to support Atlanta’s local creative economy.
Now, as part of Intuit, Mailchimp remains committed to driving impact in Atlanta, embracing the We Care & Give Back philosophy, and scaling programs like Give Where You Live, which recognizes some of the most engaged employees (those who logged more than 10 volunteer hours in 2023 were invited to attend). Last year alone, 48% of Intuit employees logged volunteer participation hours, translating to over 43,000 volunteer hours spent in the community worldwide.
“With Give Where You Live Day, Intuit Mailchimp is thrilled to take our deep community roots and longtime commitment to Atlanta to new heights," said Rania Succar, SVP and General Manager, Intuit Mailchimp. "To do that, we've teamed up with the Atlanta Hawks to support some organizations at the forefront of pushing the city forward—driving the equity, change, and creativity needed for a better society. These hometown superheroes are deserving of more spotlight, and we couldn’t be prouder to help empower their growth.”
