Will Mailchimp members have an Intuit account?
Nothing changes about how you sign up for or log into Mailchimp. You can continue to use your existing login information for Mailchimp to access your Mailchimp account.
For additional benefits of the Intuit platform, you can create an Intuit Account at any time.
Is Mailchimp a controller or a processor?
For the purposes of privacy and data protection laws and consistent with how we've always processed our members’ data, for much of the personal information we process when providing our service, we act as a processor in accordance with our Data Processing Addendum.
However, there are certain instances, as more fully described in our Global Privacy Statement, where we process personal information (including content and other data from member accounts) as a controller to provide and develop our service. This also applies to other important business purposes (e.g., for billing, administrative, security, and product improvement).
When processing personal information as a data controller, we take responsibility for ensuring that such processing is conducted in accordance with data protection laws applicable to us and our Global Privacy Statement.
Where is my data stored? Is my data transferred outside of my local country?
Mailchimp and its affiliates own and operate servers in world-class data centers located in the United States. In addition, we leverage third-party vendors who process personal information on our behalf. Their processing facilities are located in the United States and in other international locations to provide services to Mailchimp.
You can view the full list of sub-processors we use to process our members’ data, along with details of their location. We take steps to ensure that our vendors offer appropriate safeguards to protect personal information they process on our behalf, and contractually obligate them to process such data in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
Does Mailchimp agree to the EU standard contractual clauses or the equivalent UK clauses?
Yes. Refer to the “International Transfers” section of our Data Processing Addendum.
Where can I find more information about your data export compliance?
Find out more about data export compliance in our Mailchimp and European Data Transfers article. You can also refer to our Data Privacy Framework page.
Where can I go to request access to my data or have my data deleted?
Visit Mailchimp’s privacy rights page for more information.
If you’re an Intuit customer, you can request access to your data or its deletion at any time by following the instructions in our Global Privacy Statement. You can also visit Intuit’s Privacy and Security page to exercise certain privacy requests or ask for help from Intuit’s customer and member success representatives.
Does Mailchimp sell my data?
Mailchimp does not sell the personal information of our members, our members’ distribution lists, or our members’ contacts. To deliver services to our members, we share personal information with third-party service providers and, as further explained in our Data Processing Addendum and Global Privacy Statement, with our parent entity, Intuit Inc., and its group companies.
Is Mailchimp still a CCPA service provider?
Mailchimp has updated our Standard Terms of Use and Data Processing Addendum to clarify how we will operate following our integration with Intuit. Those documents maintain that we will continue acting primarily as a service provider under the CCPA.
Although Intuit may act in a different role (such as a business) for other Intuit products and services, the Mailchimp terms will continue to govern the Mailchimp services. Over the coming months, we will be working to build additional experiences to help Mailchimp members take advantage of the Intuit platform and will keep you updated regarding relevant changes to these positions and our terms.
Is my data secure? How do you protect my data?
Mailchimp takes the protection and security of your personal information and your contacts’ personal information seriously. You can find more details on our Mailchimp Data Security and Privacy page.
How does Mailchimp use my contacts’ data?
Mailchimp primarily uses your contacts' personal information to provide our service to you in accordance with your instructions. As more fully described in our Standard Terms of Use and Global Privacy Statement, we also process personal information of your contacts for other important business purposes like billing, administration, security, and product improvement.
Will Mailchimp and Intuit share data?
We may share information with our parent entity, Intuit Inc., and other Intuit group companies to provide, develop, and improve other Intuit products and services that you connect through our service or otherwise in accordance with the applicable Intuit terms of service, including to provide you with greater insights about your business and to personalize your user experience when you use any platform operated by the Intuit group of companies, as described in our Global Privacy Statement.
Currently, Mailchimp members and QuickBooks customers may choose to connect their accounts to take advantage of Intuit’s AI-driven expert platform for actionable insights to grow and run their businesses with confidence. Over the coming months, we’ll be working to build additional experiences to help our members take advantage of the Intuit platform.
