The Operations team keeps the lights on at MailChimp. They’re responsible for infrastructure and tooling, as well as provisioning, configuring, and monitoring the services in our datacenters. They work closely with our Development, Marketing, and Data Science teams to provide the infrastructure needed to move our products forward.

We are looking for a software engineer with extensive programming experience on large applications, who wants to focus on helping scale infrastructure with those skills. You’ll build applications with internal customers and users, and the applications you create will be used for managing thousands of machines and lots of infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ops-focused software
• Work with multiple large teams to make sure MailChimp’s tools align with our business needs
• Create and improve apps used for provisioning and management

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building large software projects that integrate with many other systems and APIs
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Familiarity with Linux, databases, configuration management, and monitoring
• Extensive experience with Python or other languages that can be demonstrated through a portfolio of code you have written
• Experience with Puppet, knowledge of iLO or other out of band options for server management, exposure to networking equipment and how that fits into larger datacenter buildouts is a major plus
