About Multi-Audience SMS Opt-out
When a business operates multiple senders in one account, a contact has the option to unsubscribe from one sender by texting STOP to a long code or clicking to unsubscribe from a branded Sender ID to opt-out, they will be unsubscribed from all senders registered to that business.
In this article, you'll learn about SMS opt-out with multiple SMS audiences enabled.
How opt-out works with SMS multi-audiences enabled
If you have set up Sending Numbers for the same country in more than one audience, each audience must have its own unique sender associated with a brand's SMS Marketing program.
When a contact opts-out via texting STOP to a long code or clicking an unsubscribe link for a branded sender, they will be opted out from receiving messages from all audiences. Mailchimp will use your existing registered business information to register the second sender in that country on a different audience. At this time, we do not support distinct businesses on different audiences within the same account.
If a contact opts out via texting STOP for long codes or click unsubscribe for branded senders, Mailchimp sends a confirmation of opt-out. When SMSOpt-out is enabled, an opt-out confirmation text is delivered indicating that contact has now unsubscribed from all messages from your business.
The Opt-out confirmation message can be edited by the sender.
- Opt-out confirmation messages are editable by country. When your contact texts STOP to a long code or click unsubscribe from a branded sender, they will receive the text as defined for that sender.
How to edit opt-out confirmation messages
- Click the Campaign menu button to select SMS.
- On the SMS page, click Settings.
- In SMS settings select the Country settings tab
- Go to the Compliance message table to view the message type Opt-out confirmation.
- Click Edit from the Opt-out confirmation field.
- When you finish editing your Opt-out confirmation message, click Save changes.
Contact Profile and Activity Feed
After customers have unsubscribed, the activity feed in your account will show contacts that: opt-out, the sender name, updated subscription status, date/time and time zone. The updates can be viewed on the Contact profile and All contacts table.
- If the contact subscribed to multiple senders, the contact will be unsubscribed from all senders, and these updates will be reflected on the contact profile and all contacts tables in each audience.
How many confirmations can a contact receive?
Should a contact opt-out of multiple senders by texting STOP to a long code or click an unsubscribe link for a branded sender, they will only receive one opt-out confirmation message. They will NOT receive notifications from each sender. The opt-out confirmation is sent from the sender the contact unsubscribes from.
