Create an Automated Welcome Email on Mobile

Set up an automated welcome email to make sure new contacts get a warm welcome when they join your audience.

Here, you’ll learn how to use the Mailchimp app to create an automated welcome email on your phone or tablet.

Before you start

To create an automated welcome email on our mobile app, your account needs to meet a few requirements.

• Currently, you can only create an automated welcome email on the mobile app if you don’t have this type of automation in your audience yet.
• Other Android or Apple devices may render the same features slightly differently.

If you’ve set up your audience but haven’t tried an automated welcome series yet, you’re good to go.

How it works

Design your welcome email with a few quick taps and then activate it, all from your mobile device. We’ll automatically send your welcome email to each new person who signs up for your audience through Mailchimp signup form or landing page. Imported contacts won’t get the email.

Create a welcome automation

You can start from any of these places in the app:

• On the Audience tab, tap Create a welcome automation in the shortcuts row.
• On the Home tab, tap Create a welcome automation in the Ongoing section.
• If you're new to Mailchimp, tap the welcome email step in your setup checklist on Home.

Then follow these steps.

1. Verify your domain, if we ask you to. To send your welcome email, you'll first verify a domain you own for the From email address. This is a one-time setup for your account. If you've already verified a domain, you won't see this step.
2. Choose a template. Tap Start with a template, pick one of the six designs, then tap Next. You'll need to choose one before you can continue.
3. Tap Next to open the editor, where you can change the wording, add images, and adjust the design. When you're finished, tap Save & continue.
4. Review and turn on. Check your email, then edit the Subject line and Preview text if you'd like. Your welcome email sends immediately when a contact subscribes. When you're ready, press and hold Touch and hold to turn on.
5. You're done. Tap Done to close.

If you want to leave before turning your automation on, tap the close button and choose Exit without turning on. Tap Return to editor to keep working.

Pause, edit, or resume your automation

To pause, edit, or resume your welcome email from your mobile app, follow these steps.

1. Navigate to the Campaigns tab.
2. Tap your automation.
3. Depending on what you’re doing, tap Pause flow or Resume flow. You’ll need a user level that can pause automations.

If you need to make changes to your automation after you pause it, you can edit most parts of it from the mobile app.
