We understand how important it is to make sure your emails have the right look and feel before you send them to your subscribed contacts. Test emails are a great way to see how content will look in your inbox, or share what you're working on with colleagues. However, there are limits on how many tests you can send.
In this article, you'll learn about test email sending limits, and what you can do once you've reached your limit.
When you send test emails to yourself or colleagues, we allow you to directly input the addresses of intended recipients, so you don't have to store them in your audience. To prevent scammers from abusing this system, we apply sending limits.
If you frequently reach your limit, take a look at our Email Testing Tips article to get the most out of your test sends.
Based on your plan type, you can send up to a certain number of tests per marketing email within a 24-hour period. When you send a test to multiple recipients at once, each recipient counts toward your total tests for that email and the 24-hour period. So, if you send 1 test to 4 recipients, it counts as 4 total tests.
The specific test sending limits depend on your plan type.
For Pay as You Go users, test emails cost 1 credit per send.
Tests per email | Tests per 24 hours | Addresses per test | |
---|---|---|---|
Free | 12 | 24 | 6 |
Paid | 70 | 200 | 20 |
For example, if you're on the Free plan, you could test 2 emails 12 times each in a 24-hour period, with 1 email address per test. Or, you could send 3 tests of a single email to 4 colleagues over a 24-hour period.
When you test a template, we apply a separate set of limitations. Like email sending limits, multiple addresses count toward your total test sends per 24-hour period.
Template tests per 24 hours | Addresses per test | |
---|---|---|
Free | 24 | 5 |
Paid | 100 | 5 |

If you meet the test email sending limit for a single email, but have not yet reached the maximum number of allowed test sends within a 24-hour period, replicate your email to continue testing.
