Connect or Disconnect Typeform
Connect your Typeform account to Mailchimp to automatically send new leads, customers, and contacts to your Mailchimp audience. Use surveys, forms, or quizzes created in Typeform to collect data that you can use to manage your audience and improve your marketing campaigns in Mailchimp.
In this article, you'll learn how to connect Typeform with Mailchimp, add tags to responses, and disconnect the integration.
Before you start
Here are some things to know before you begin this process.
- A Typeform account is required. If you don’t have one, visit Typeform to create a free account.
- You can associate multiple Mailchimp accounts with your Typeform account. Any Mailchimp accounts currently or previously connected will be listed in your Typeform account.
- Each typeform—for example, a form or quiz—can only be connected to a single Mailchimp account.
- You'll need at least one published typeform with an email question set to Required.
- Typeform questions are only compatible with Mailchimp text fields.
How it Works
With the Typeform integration you can collect detailed feedback from forms, surveys, or quizzes and send that data to your Mailchimp audience. The integration supports tags, so you can organize data received from Typeform and manage your audience based on input your contacts have shared with you.
Connect Typeform
Connect your Typeform account to Mailchimp and choose the audience you want to sync to.
To add the Mailchimp integration, follow these steps.
- Log in to your Typeform account.
- From your Workspace, select the typeform you want to connect with Mailchimp.
- Click the Connect tab.
- Type Mailchimp in the search bar.
- Click Connect.
- Click Authenticate.
- On the Log in and authorize page, enter your Mailchimp Username and Password, then click Log In.
- On the Authorize Typeform pop-up modal, click Allow.
- Next, choose a Mailchimp audience to sync your typeform responses and contacts to.
- Use the Map typeform questions to Mailchimp fields step to match a typeform question to a field in your Mailchimp audience. For your typeform to create a contact in Mailchimp, an email address question is required. This section will also be where you map a response to a tag in your Mailchimp audience.
- Click Save.
That’s it! Now that Typeform is connected to Mailchimp, you can track customer responses as they automatically appear in your audience.
Note
If you have fields in your Mailchimp audience set as required, the corresponding questions in your typeform must also be set as required.
Add responses as tags in Mailchimp
Map your typeform responses to specific tags in Mailchimp to segment your audience. You can connect tags in Mailchimp to a Picture Choice, Multiple Choice, or Dropdown question, or to a Quiz Outcome in Typeform. Map your responses to tags during the initial setup or any time after the integration is connected.
To access the integration settings and map a response to a tag, follow these steps.
- Log in to your Typeform account.
- Select a typeform from your Workspace.
- Click Connect.
- On the Mailchimp card, click the three horizontal dots, then choose Edit.
- Scroll down to the Add tags to your responses (optional) section and choose how you’d like to tag your responses. Select one or both checkboxes to Add a single tag to all your responses or Tag responses in choice questions.
- Click Save.
Disconnect Typeform
To disconnect Typeform from Mailchimp, you’ll need to deactivate the integration and delete Mailchimp from your Typeform account. Your data stays in Typeform after the integration is disconnected. Any data synced to Mailchimp before disconnecting will remain in Mailchimp. If you collect responses while the integration is disconnected, those responses won’t be sent to Mailchimp if the integration is reconnected.
When you deactivate the integration, data syncing to Mailchimp is disabled.
To deactivate the Typeform integration, follow these steps.
- Log in to your Typeform account.
- Select a typeform from your Workspace.
- Click Connect.
- On the Mailchimp card, toggle the slider off.
With the integration deactivated, anyone who completes your typeform won't have their information synced over to Mailchimp.
If you want to remove the integration completely, you’ll need to delete it.
To delete the Typeform integration, follow these steps.
- Log in to your Typeform account.
- Select a typeform from your Workspace.
- Click Connect.
- On the Mailchimp card, click the three horizontal dots, then choose Delete.
Note
If you delete and reconnect the integration, you won’t be able to update contacts that already exist in Mailchimp.
