Use the Section Manager in the New Builder

Use the section manager in Mailchimp’s new email builder to add, move, or delete parts of your email. This tool helps you create organized, responsive layouts by using blank sections or pre-built designs from the library.

In this article, you’ll learn how to manage email sections in the new builder.

Before you start

Here are some things to know before you begin this process.

• The section manager is available in the new email builder. If you’re using the legacy builder and want to switch builders, check out Switch Your Default Email Builder.
• The new email builder is available for regular email, automation flow email actions, email touchpoints in Campaign Manager, A/B test emails, and multivariate test emails. The new builder is also available in these classic automations: single abandoned cart emails, and automated welcome emails.

How the section manager works

The section manager gives you easy access to organize your email structure. Most templates display default header, body, and footer sections to save you design time. You can move sections around, rename, duplicate, or delete. Use the section manager to add as many blank, or pre-built sections as needed to create a unique look for your brand.

Manage email sections

To manage your email sections, follow these steps.

1. In the new builder, click Create email on the Home page or open an existing email draft.
2. Click Sections.
   

Here’s some actions you can perform in the section manager.

• Add blank sections: Click the plus icon to add a blank section. The section is added to the bottom of your email and given a default name. You can rename and edit. Add as many blank sections as you want.
• Add pre-built sections: Click the Library tab to add pre-built Header, Hero, Features, Footer, or Product sections to your email. You’ll be able to style each to match your brand.
• Reorder: Move sections up or down. Drag sections to move them or hover and use the up and down arrows. You can also reorder sections directly in the canvas.
• Modify: Hover a section and click the three-dot (More options) icon to Rename, Duplicate, or Delete it. You can also perform this action in any section in the canvas.

You’ve successfully organized your email layout. Your changes save automatically as you design.
