Find the Mailchimp Popup Forms Code on Your Site
After you create and publish your popup form, you may want to check that the code is present on your connected site.
In this article, you'll learn how to inspect your Mailchimp popup form code.
Before you start
Here are some things to know before you start.
- The form code is added to your connected site when you create your popup form. To learn more, check out Create a Popup Form.
- This is an advanced task and is recommended for users familiar with custom coding. Contact your developer, or hire a Mailchimp Expert if you need assistance.
Confirm if the form appears on your site
If the popup form code snippet isn’t present on your connected site, or if the code snippet is removed, your popup form will not appear live - even if the form is ‘active’ in Mailchimp Forms dashboard.
Ways to determine if the snippet is off your site:
- "Total site visitors" metric in Mailchimp Forms dashboard has dropped to zero.
- You’re unable to "Live Preview" your form from the editor
- Your active form isn’t firing live on the site
How to find the form code snippet
You’ll find your popup form’s code snippet on your connected site within your browser’s developer tools.
To find your form’s code snippet, follow these steps
- Navigate to your connected site.
- Right-click anywhere on the site page, then select Inspect or Inspect Element depending on your browser. This opens your browser's Developer Tools.
- Click on the Console tab to access the console.
- Check for Mailchimp Forms Settings in the Console to determine if Mailchimp Forms has been installed. In the console, type Mailchimp.
- Confirm these lines of code are present:
mailchimpFormsCustom
mailchimpFormsLoaded
mailchimpFormsSettings
- If the console returns a message such as:
Uncaught ReferenceError: Mailchimp Forms Settings is not defined
it means that the Mailchimp Forms Code Snippet has not been properly installed on your theme.
- Confirm these lines of code are present:
If you find that Mailchimp Forms has not been installed correctly, review the installation steps to ensure you’ve followed them accurately.
