Switch from Square: Shoppable Landing Pages
We’ve updated Square by Mailchimp. If you’ve been using Square: Shoppable Landing Pages and you want to update to the new app, you’ll need to switch to the current Square by Mailchimp. This requires a few steps to update any landing page payment blocks and migrate any automations you might have set up.
If you’re not sure whether you’re using Square: Shoppable Landing Pages, you can check your existing integrations. Scroll to Authorized applications and look for Square: Shoppable Landing Pages.
In this article, you’ll learn how to switch from Square: Shoppable Landing Pages to Square by Mailchimp.
Note If you don’t want to sync your Square contacts to Mailchimp, you don’t need to take any action. Your Mailchimp audience won’t be affected.
How it works
Switching your integration from Square: Shoppable Landing Pages to Square by Mailchimp is a multi-step process. Before you disconnect Square: Shoppable Landing Pages you’ll need to accomplish the following tasks.
To avoid errors with your automations, you'll need to pause your active campaigns and migrate your e-commerce automations. You’ll also need to replace your payment blocks on your landing page with product content blocks.
Here's how it works.
- Install Square by Mailchimp
Use Square by Mailchimp to establish a new connection to your Square account. - Migrate your e-commerce automations
To avoid sending duplicate messages, we recommend that you migrate your active automations to Square by Mailchimp. - Update your landing page payment blocks to product content blocks
Square by Mailchimp supports product content blocks to connect to Square payment processing. - Disconnect Square: Shoppable Landing Pages
After your automations migrate and you’ve swapped your payment blocks for product content blocks, it's time to disconnect Square: Shoppable Landing Pages.
Before you start
Here are some things to know before you begin this process.
- You must have manager access or higher to make changes to your integration. To learn more about user levels, visit Manage User Levels in Your Account.
- Learn more about landing pages and product content blocks.
Connect Square by Mailchimp
To connect your Square account to Mailchimp, follow these steps.
- Navigate to Square by Mailchimp.
- Click Log in with Mailchimp.
- Enter your username and password and click Log In.
- Review the permissions request, then click Allow.
- Click Log in with Square.
- Enter your username and password and click Sign In.
- If desired, set up 2-factor authentication; otherwise, click Continue to Square.
- Review the permissions request, then click Allow.
- Use the drop-down to choose the audience to which your Square data will be synced, and then click Continue to map fields.
- Set up your field mappings. Note that
Email address
is the only required field mapping and is automatically selected.
- Click Add a mapping to add new fields. Use the Square drop-down to select a Square field, and then use the Mailchimp drop-down to choose the Mailchimp field to which the field data will be mapped. For example, you can map information in the Square field
Given Name
to the Mailchimp fieldFirst Name
. - Click the Trash can icon to delete a mapping.
- Click Add a mapping to add new fields. Use the Square drop-down to select a Square field, and then use the Mailchimp drop-down to choose the Mailchimp field to which the field data will be mapped. For example, you can map information in the Square field
- When you’re finished mapping fields, click Continue to sync. You’ll see a progress screen that shows you the status of your sync. When the sync is complete, you’ll see a success message. Click Go to dashboard to see integration details.
Nice! Once your accounts are connected, your Square data continues to sync to Mailchimp automatically.
Migrate Your e-commerce Automations
To avoid sending duplicate messages, you'll need to migrate your e-commerce automations to send from Square by Mailchimp.
To migrate your store, follow the steps outlined in the following sections.
Pause your active e-commerce automations

Abandoned cart automations, order notifications, and product retargeting campaigns will all need to be paused.
To pause your automations, follow these steps.
Click Campaigns, then click All campaigns.
Click the drop-down menu for the automation being sent from Square and choose Edit.
- Click Pause All Emails.
Some types of automations look a little different. For these, you’ll click Pause And Edit.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all e-commerce automations connected to Square: Shoppable Landing Pages.
Click link to migrate your store
To migrate your store's automations to Square by Mailchimp, follow these steps.
- Click this link. When you click this link, a new tab will appear and we'll transfer your automations to send from Square by Mailchimp.
- Close the tab.
Resume automations

To resume your automations, follow these steps.
Click Campaigns, then click All campaigns.
Click the drop-down menu for the automation you want to work with and choose Edit.
- Click Resume All Emails.
Some types of automations look a little different. For these, you'll click Resume Sending.
Update payment blocks to product blocks
If you have landing pages that use payment content blocks, you’ll need to update them to use product content blocks.
To swap out your payment blocks for product content blocks on your landing page, follow these steps.
Click Campaigns, then click All campaigns.
If you have more than 1 audience, click the Audience drop-down and choose the audience associated with your landing page.
- Click the drop-down for the page you want to work with, then click Edit.
- Scroll to Content and click Edit Design.
- Delete your payment block.
- Hover over the top edge of the payment block and click the Trash can icon.
- On the pop-up modal, click Delete to confirm.
- Add a new product content block.
- Drag a product block onto your landing page design.
- Choose the store that contains the product you want to sell.
- Click Browse all, then click the Item drop-down and select the product.
- Click Insert, and then customize the design of the product block.
- When you're ready, click Save and Publish to immediately publish changes.
- Repeat the previous steps as necessary for each payment block and landing page.
Disconnect Square: Shoppable Landing Pages
After you've installed Square by Mailchimp, migrated your automations and updated any payment blocks to product content blocks, it’s time to disconnect Square: Shoppable Landing Pages.
To disconnect Square: Shoppable Landing Pages, follow these steps.
- Click Integrations.
- Click Manage your sites.
- If you have more than one connected site, click the Switch site drop-down and choose your Square account.
- Click Disconnect.
- In the Are You Sure? pop-up modal, click Disconnect.
