Mailchimp takes data security seriously, and we work to ensure the integrity of your data and information. If we notice suspicious activity in your account, we restrict access and ask all users to confirm their identities.
In this article, you'll learn about the different types of security features built into your Mailchimp account and how to use them.
Before you start
Here are some things to know before you begin this process.
Mailchimp will never call, email, or text you to ask for your password or 1-time passcode.
You can set up different levels of account access for different users. This allows you to manage what users can see and do in your account.
If you lose a mobile device with an application connected to your Mailchimp account, disable the application on the same page as API keys. To learn more about mobile device security, check out Remove an Application from Your Account.
To set up account verification, you must first set up 2-factor authentication for your Mailchimp account. This requires the user to have physical access to your mobile device before they can access your account.
2-factor authentication
Set up 2-factor authentication to enhance your account's security. With 2-factor authentication enabled in Mailchimp, you need your login credentials and a one-time passcode to log in to your account. This passcode is sent via SMS or generated by an authenticator app.
Don't share your login credentials or multi-factor authentication code with anyone. Mailchimp employees will also never ask for your code.
If we see unusual login activity on your account, we ask you to verify your account. SMS verification is a strong security tool because it requires access to your mobile device.
To link your account to your device, follow these steps.
In the Account verification section, click Enable or Edit.
Click the Select Country drop-down and choose your country. Type your phone number in the field provided.
Click Verify to send the verification code to your mobile device.
In the Verification Code from SMS field that appears, type in the verification code you received.
Click Verify.
