About Authorized Applications

When you connect your Mailchimp account to a third-party site or application, you give them permission to access information in your account. We want to help you understand what it means to connect an application and what data they’ll have access to.

• Authorized Applications

  An authorized application is an app that has permission to write or view data in your Mailchimp account.

• Account Data

  Account data is the collection of information available through your Mailchimp account such as data for campaigns, audiences, contacts, templates, reporting, and e-commerce. Apps will not have access to your account settings, billing data, or user management information.

Understanding access

Authorized applications can be given access to read, write, edit, delete, and share data in your Mailchimp account. Please note that the level of access will depend on the permission level of the user that authenticated it.

Here are some important things to consider when an app requests access to your account.

• Consider how the app will use your data. The data may be used in ways that aren’t obvious such as distribution to third parties.
• You can disable an app at any time from your Mailchimp account.

How we select applications

Mailchimp curates and reviews integrations in our directory, however, we do not review all apps that register with us as an integration.

We remove suspicious integrations when we catch them, but we highly recommend that you stay vigilant and only authorize applications that you trust. One of the best ways to tell if an application is legitimate is if you are prompted to connect directly from the integration's website. Be suspicious of prompts to connect that aren't from their site.
