Connect or Disconnect Canva

Dynamic visuals can capture your customers’ attention and increase engagement with your content. Create graphics for your brand with Canva and import those designs into your Mailchimp content studio with our options to browse your Canva files directly. Then, use your designs across the marketing channels you've built in Mailchimp.

In this article, you'll learn how to connect, disconnect, and use the Canva integration.

Before you start

Here are some things to know before you begin this process.

• To access the features of this integration, you’ll need a Canva account.
• If you use this integration with a free Canva account, you may be limited to certain design templates.
• The Canva integration is best used to create individual design elements for your Mailchimp campaigns. We don’t recommend you use a single Canva design as an email template. You won’t be able to add multiple links to a single Canva image, and your email may reformat or trigger spam filters.

How it works

When you finish a design in Canva, you can import it directly into Mailchimp. Your design is imported into the content studio as a JPG image or you can find it in your Mailchimp file directory. It can be used with your emails, website, social posts, ads, and other Mailchimp features. You’ll find your imported images in both the Uploads tab and in the Canva tab

Connect Canva

To connect your Canva account to Mailchimp, follow these steps.

1. Log in to your Canva account.

2. Click on any design template to open the editor. Depending on the template you choose and your Canva account type, you may need to click Customize this template or Use this template before you reach the editor.

3. In the editor, click Share.
   

4. Click More.
   

5. Enter Mailchimp into the search bar, or scroll to the Messaging section and click Mailchimp.
   

6. Click Connect Mailchimp.
   

7. Enter your Mailchimp credentials, then click Log In. If your account has 2-factor authentication enabled, you’ll need to complete this step before Canva can be connected.

8. On the Authorize Canva page, click Allow. After you log in and authorize, you’ll be redirected back to the Canva app.

Import a Canva design into Mailchimp

To import a Canva design into Mailchimp, follow these steps.

1. Open a finalized design in Canva’s editor.
2. In the editor, click Share.
   
3. Click More.
   
4. Search for Mailchimp in the search bar or scroll to the Messaging section, then click Mailchimp.
   
   If your design has multiple pages, you’ll need to select the pages that you want to export, then click Done.
5. If necessary, select the Mailchimp content studio folder you want to save the design to and click Choose.
6. Click Save.
   

If your design includes premium Canva elements, click Pay and Save to purchase them.

Excellent! Your design will sync to Mailchimp as a JPG image. After the sync is complete, click View in Mailchimp to access your design in the content studio. You'll find your files in both the Uploaded tab and the Canva tab.

Manage Canva in Mailchimp

Once you've connected your Mailchimp and Canva accounts, you can view the integration details, manage settings, and take advantage of Mailchimp's features to grow your audience and connect more deeply with your customers.

To manage your Canva and Mailchimp integration from your Mailchimp account, follow these steps.

1. Click Integrations, and then choose Manage.
2. Click Canva.
3. On the Manage Canva page, you'll find your integration stats and our recommended next steps for your account.
4. Scroll to our recommended next actions and click to learn more about what you can do with Mailchimp.

Disconnect Canva

If you disconnect Canva from your Mailchimp account, your Canva designs remain in the content studio.

To disconnect Canva from your Mailchimp account, follow these steps.

1. Click Integrations, then click Manage.
   
2. Click Canva.
3. Click the Manage App drop-down, and then choose Disconnect site.
4. In the pop-up modal, enter DISCONNECT, then click Disconnect.

That’s it! You’ve successfully disconnected the Canva integration. To reconnect, follow the steps to connect your account.
